Greg is an Individual Financial Advisor and spoke to us about Guaranteed Income for Life.
Greg began working in the Finance industry around 1994-95 with the Credit Union.
In 2001 Greg went out on his own and has been offering one on one financial advice to clients ever since.
Greg’s biggest asset is his centers of influence. Greg has personal relationships with people from many different disciplines and can often times save his clients a lot of time and money trying to research information on their own. One such example would be tax advice.
Greg is an expert in retirement and estate planning for individuals utilizing Segregated Mutual Funds. While a relatively new product in Canada this type of fund has been a popular investment vehicle in many places in the world for years.
Greg told us that it is vitally important that we be sure we have enough money to last us through the rest of our lives after retirement. An interesting statistic that Greg pointed out is that in 1900 the average person only lived 1.2 years after retirement. Now in 2011 the average is 19.2 years, so it is being more important that we plan to have enough money to last for the rest of our lives. This is especially true since the majority of folks rely on CPP and OAS for 40% of their retirement income.
Greg gave each member in attendance a hand out that included a work sheet to help us determine if we have enough money to satisfy our retirement needs. The hand out also included a DVD explaining a product called Ecoflextra for individuals and a hand out on Tax Planning for Corporate Investing.
