April 12, 2011 – Katherine Larter, CranioSacral Therapy Plus

Our group speaker this week was Katherine Larter owner of CranioSacral Therapy Plus.

Katherine began by explaining that CranioSacral Therapy is performed on a person fully clothed using light touch.

Katherine was first introduced to CranioSacral therapy after she had gone to the Environmental Health Center for help with sever back and knee problems. It was while there that she learned that most of what these types of facilities do is to teach people how to cope with issues and not to heal the condition.

She later was treated using CranioSacral Therapy and was amazed by the results and was soon back on her feet and able to return to the work force. It was during her treatments that she learned that Cranio was very effective at treating not only the problem at hand but at also treating the entire central nervous system.

Katherine has treated many high stress clients and has learned that most of the problems these folks have are not their jobs but the people they work with.

Katherine told us that she works with a lot of teens and has learned that the frontal cortex of the brain develops later in life and that it varies from one person to the next which helps to explain why some teens develop at different rates than others.

Katherine then went on to tell us that she is a facilitator for the teachings of Byron Katie. Byron’s teachings help us discover how our thoughts influence our behaviors and beliefs.

Later this year Katherine will be facilitating “Mind Traps”, a Byron Katie program.

Katherine told us that work with Northwood Manor has been delayed due to the recent strike at the facility, but hopes to get the process back on track very soon.

Katherine told us that most of the focus of her business is still with CranioSacral Therapy with some focus on the teachings of Byron Katie.

Katherine gave us examples of some of the problems she has treated and the outcomes of the treatments.

Katherine answered several questions and passed around some hand outs on the Cranio side of the business as well as some information on the Mind Traps program.
